I just wish the first half hadn’t dragged so much. I would have liked a bit more character development, but I did connect with one or two of them, just not on a personal level. Personally, I find it falls on the scarier end of ‘terror’ which some horror scenes. For me, this book isn’t what I’d call a classic horror. The way Straub connected all the plots and characters together was absolutely genius. After that, the plot takes a crazy turn with action, monsters, pop culture references (loved those) and was absolutely fantastic. It’s a ridiculously slow start as nothing really happens for the first 200-250 pages.
